First Steps and A Visit to Santa

Davis took his first steps this past week! On December 15th, I went to pick up Davis from daycare and the teachers told me he had taken 4 steps by himself that day! I hugged him and cried the whole way home. Happy because he had finally taken his first steps on his own, sad that I had missed seeing them, and mixed feelings because that meant my baby really was growing up! He's made 2 more steps since then, but I think he is still more comfortable crawling right now. Maybe he'll be completely walking by Christmas day!

Speaking of Christmas, Davis stopped by to see Santa for the first time while we were in downtown Wake Forest this past weekend. We actually made 2 visits since the first didn't go so well. Both visits produced equally cute pictures!

Here's wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Can't wait to see what 2009 holds!

Davis' First Birthday!

Wow, I can't even believe Davis is 1 year old....time really does fly once you have children. This past year has really taught me to savor every moment, because they're all too fleeting. Davis has become such a little man and keeps his "DaDa" and I laughing every day. He truly is a blessing in our lives and we're thankful for each and every day we have with him.

Here are just a few pictures from his First Birthday:

Davis getting his first "little boy" haircut. He was very good and looked so cute with his cape on. He sat in a little police car. So cute...

We played hooky on Davis' birthday and took him to the Museum of Natural History. We had so much fun exploring all of the animals in the Life & Science Museum. Davis especially loved the Tyrranosaurus Rex display!

Davis had a Curious George theme birthday party and he had a blast! He loved his cake and had fun playing with his friends.

Scootin' Man

It's official! Our Little Man started scootin'/crawling a few days ago. He's all over the place. We couldn't be more proud....or worried! I feel like I can't leave him alone for more than a couple of seconds because he's so fast.

As far as childproofing goes, I've placed some outlet covers and cabinet locks in some of the rooms, but not all. We're planning on getting a gate this weekend so he doesn't take a head-first tumble down the stairs. Maybe we should invest in some bubble wrap...

Nothing But Blue [Skies] Do I See...

We took this picture while out on the beach over Labor Day weekend. Greg put Davis on his shoulders for his first piggy back ride and he looked so cute with that Carolina blue sky and kites behind him, so I took a quick photo. This has turned out to be one of my favorite pictures of him so far. I don't know which part I like best - the contemplative look on his face, his tongue sticking out, the little curl in his hair...oh, heck, I love it all, who am I kidding?!!

Here Davis is with Daddy, again surrounded by Carolina blue. This time, Davis is getting ready to cheer on the Tarheels for their first football game of the season.

Take Me Out To The Ballgame!

We took Davis to his first baseball game on Sunday. He had such a great time looking around and boogying and clapping to the music. We can't wait to take him to more games next season!

Happy 9 Month Birthday, Davis!

Davis is 9 months old today. It's so hard to believe! He's becoming such a big boy everyday. He's had a lot of firsts this past week, including:

His First Bath in the "Big Boy" Bath. He LOVES it. We have since taken out the seat because he loves to splish and splash so much. And he is fascinated with the drain - he loves to watch the water drain out when we're done with bathtime each night.

We visited my brother and his family in Greenville, SC this past weekend. Davis had his first train ride with Mommy, Aunt Renae, and Cousin Jacob. He had a great time and even sat for a picture with the conductor.

Davis enjoyed playtime with Uncle Danny and Cousin Jacob - Jacob was so good at sharing his toys!

This is the cutest picture ever! Davis is hugging his Cousin Jacob bye.

Travelin' Man

Greg's Dad and Stepmom recently bought Davis his first wheels, and let me tell you, he knew just what to do. It was instinctual. He immediately put his hands on the handle bars, stretched out his legs and reached for the petals, then gave Greg and I a look as if to say, "ok, guys, where's the road?". Although he's not quite ready for his first ride, he soon will be. And it will be a sweet moment. Thank you Grandma and Grandpa!

"On the road again
Goin' places that I've never been
Seein' things that I may never see again
And I can't wait to get on the road again....."

Wake Forest Wild Man

Greg affectionately calls Davis the "Wake Forest Wild Man". Well, Davis officially earned the title this past week. Here are a few examples of what I mean...

This is his new "do" - he even has a "don't mess with me" look on his face. Too cute...

Davis decided to attack the Sunday newspaper. The last photo is the aftermath of the attack.

The Wake Forest Wild Man does have a sweet side - here's the evidence to prove it:

At first, Davis looked EXACTLY like his dad - now he looks like both of us, hence my nickname for him, "half & half".

Beach Bum

Here are some pictures of our trip to the beach over the July 4th weekend. Davis had a blast and is an official beach bum!

We went to Southport to watch the fireworks. Davis got a little scared of the boom noise, but really liked watching them.

Davis' first carousel ride - he loved it!

Family photo at Holden Beach.

Daddy & Davis getting their feet wet.

Ay, Ay Captain Davis!

It's Playtime!

Davis loves being outside! Here are some pics of our recent outdoor adventures:
Mommy & Me blowing bubbles

We recently took him swinging and he loved it. I think he likes movement in general, but the fact that he could swing and kick his legs was an added bonus!

He also loves his new swimming pool, shaped like a frog. At first he was a little wary about sitting inside the mouth of this huge frog with huge eyes, but once he realized he could splish and splash, he was just fine.

It's Not Easy Being Green

Davis loves all of the solids we've given him so far, including green peas and green beans (go figure...). Here he is chowing down on some peas. He especially loves to grab the spoon out of mommy's hand and try and feed himself...

Davis has also really enjoyed figuring out how to use his sippy cup. Now that he's gotten the hang of it, he will keep slapping the tray on his highchair until you bring the cup up to his mouth for him to take a sip.

It Just Keeps Getting Better...

Davis on New Year's Day - a little over a month old.

Davis is 6 1/2 months old now, and he's so much fun. Each day holds a new adventure for all of us. I can't wait to see what tomorrow has in store...
