Fun Weekend

We had a great, but exhausting, weekend! We wrapped up VBS at our church on Saturday. I had volunteered to oversee one of the craft stations where we glued on rocks and a cross to wooden picture frames - it's amazing how creative kids can be with ROCKS! It was also Davis's first time going to VBS since he now met the age requirement. The first night was a little hard because he wanted to stay with me the whole time. Once he realized that I was never too far away, he had a blast. He loved learning about Jesus and about his mother, Mary.
Greg went over to Target to fill an antibiotic for Davis. He still hasn't shaken whatever it is he has had, so I'm hoping the amoxicillin will do the trick. While he was there, he picked up some surprises for his main man and little girl. He got Davis his first baseball bat and got baby Grace this:

How cute is this? It says "Snuggle Bear" on it and has little bear feet. SO sweet. Greg said since he called Davis his little snuggle bear, then he would call Grace the same thing! This little girl already has her daddy wrapped around her finger, and she's not even here yet!!

Saturday afternoon, we took a little trip over to Streets at Southpoint and had dinner at PF Chang's - yummy! I had so much food - shrimp & beef lo mein with extra broccoli! I'm trying to get in some extra iron in my diet since my dr. told me I was a tad low. She encouraged me to try and change my diet instead of taking the iron supplements. I remember how constipated I was w/ Davis after taking the supplements, so if I can stay away from those, even better! We then went to Babies R Us and finished up our registry. I had already started a registry online, but I wanted to add some "girly" things. I had so much fun looking at those adorable girl clothes. We're going to be SO broke.

We went over to the mall to try and get some ice cream, but Marble Slab had closed. Really, an ice cream shop closing? I just don't understand.... While we were outside, I took this picture of Davis at one of the fountains. He threw in all of my change, and after telling him he had to make a wish, he threw in a coin and said "this one is for my babybrothersister". He still calls her that, even though we know it's a sister now. Too cute!

18 weeks!

Today is the start of 18 weeks and we find out in just 2 days if our little bean is a boy or girl. Since we had all of the grandparents over for Father's Day on Sunday, I asked everyone to guess on the gender. Here's the consensus:
My Dad: Girl
My Mom: Girl
Greg's Dad: Girl
Greg's Step-Mom: Girl
Greg's Mom: Girl
Greg's Step-Dad: Boy
Greg: Won't really say, but says since he thought it was a girl when I was pregnant w/ Davis, he says boy this time!
Davis: Still thinks it's a girl!

As far as the wives tales go, here's the consensus:
Ring test: Girl
Chinese gender chart: Boy
Vein in eye: Girl
Morning sickness: Boy
Hmm...looks 50/50 to me!!

Here are some of the funny & sweet things Davis has said since we told him we were expecting:
He calls the baby his "babybrothersister" - all one word, no pause!
He's already very protective - when he sits in my lap, he'll ask if he's hurting babybrothersister; when we hear loud noises, he'll ask if she's ok; if we go over a bump, he'll ask if she's ok. So sweet!
He hugged and kissed my belly the other night and said, "Don't worry mama, I'll take care of her"
When I asked him if babybrothersister will love watching Curious George as much as he does, he replied, "No! She's going to like Princess Movies".

Can't wait to see our baby and praying that he/she is healthy!

June Beach Trip

Last weekend, we headed to Holden Beach to celebrate my brother's 42nd birthday (can he REALLY be that old?).  On the way, we stopped by Dockside in Wrightsville Beach to eat lunch. It was great - we sat right on the water, the temps were awesome, and the food was incredible.  Greg frequented this place quite a bit since he went to school at UNC Wilmington. This was our first time there together and I'm so glad we made the detour to eat lunch there.

For my brother's birthday, we at at Provision Company at Holden Beach. It's a hole in the wall (which I love!) right on the water with breezes and live music - this time there was a musician playing acoustic guitar and singing classics such as Neil Young. Every time we go down to Holden, we eat here. I always get the shrimp burger. To die for. They have this special sauce they put on it, yum, yum, yum!!

New Look

So I've been a little behind on blogging, but I'm determined to be better at it, especially with a baby on the way. This was such a great way to capture all those little moments of Davis when he was little and I want to continue that so this baby will have a neat journal that he/she can look back on one day. I've changed the look of our blog and removed our old name 'Three's Company' since that title just doesn't seem fitting anymore! :)
I'm going to buy a USB cord for my camera - yeah, a $900 camera should come with one, don't ya think?!! Good gracious... but once I have that cord, I can start downloading some recent pictures of Davis and some belly shots of me. I'm taking one every 4 weeks, and although I'm 17 weeks I already feel HUGE.
More to come....!
